Kind of a cop out for "Breathe Me" but i have another idea for it i am going to work on either this week or next, so in and effort to stay on top of my self-imposed "keep up with your damn photo contest" i am using this as a permanent placeholder.

While at the outer banks, i kind of got into taking pictures of dudes surfing. this guy, with his long locks and crazy beard, totally fascinated me. and he and his family were staying at the house next to us. and a few days after we got back, i ran into his brother at a bar. i walked up to this random dude and was all "hey, were you just at the outer banks? yeah, i was that asshole weirdo taking pictures of your brother surfing. and i got some of you too!" i am totally a crazy person.

28. Caught up

So i think i am caught up on the daily thing (or at least, i have enough pictures per day) which is pretty rocking. 

i dug out the paper bag with the themes we were going to photograph at my late job, so i am going to try and hit on these themes over the next few weeks (as well as regular posting) and if anyone else feels like doing the same, rock on. i seem to do well with themes.

YAY POLAROIDS! i love my polaroid camera. I also love my Holga. i have been playing with both of these cameras for a little while now, they produce more random, uncontrolled shots. to learn more (look at me being all PSA) check out the wiki pages on Holgas, polaroids (instant cameras) and the bastard love child of them both, the Holgaroid.

So in addition to bugs, birds fascinate the poop out of me. this one was kind of ragged looking, but i like his (or her) pose. she was a bad ass. and she later fought with some seagulls. which are the rats of the sea. blerg to the seagulls.

This is (one of) the beach house we stay at in North Carolina. I was going to do this whole panoramic, me standing in one place while rotating the camera all the way around thing, but this was the only pic i really liked. that and it looks like a picture i would have taken when i was a kid on my nifty kodak. cause i always had mad centering skills.

New Orleans is my favorite place in the world. and the street performers are just one of the charms, the other big charm for me being, of course, the food. the last time we went, this woman was performing outside of Cafe Dumond (of the famous beignets...)

This was one of those happy accident pictures. it was so hot and steamy in Costa Rica, and we had our air conditioning on. so every time i would pull out my camera in the mornings, my lens would steam up. but this picture came out kind of cool, so no complaints.

So my friends and i were going to start doing photography contests, but it never took off. we each wrote some words on some paper and threw them in a bag. the first one we pulled out was "Stop Coming to my House". this one and the dog one are the result.

I still have the bag, i may actually pull it out and start this again, maybe see if any one else wants to join in.

so i like scanning things. i think you get some really cool composition, interesting shadows, and a really high level of contrast that you might not be able to get otherwise, unless you spent a lot of time in photoshop. so this is a branch i scanned a while ago, and i think it came out very cool. also, it makes me think of how cold it is outside. and i hate the cold. brrr.

creative kickstart

so i am kinda thinking about dumping shit here. like design work, photography, drawings, paintings, maybe some writing and stuff. i feel the need for a little creative kick in the pants. i might have some opinions and stuff on here, but mostly, this will be about my arty stuff. maybe a couple of movie/tv reviews. we will see. But mainly, i am going to try and put at least one creative thing here a day. or, in case i can't do that, have at least 365 creative things up here by the end of the year.
