62. DUMBO IS SAD

DUMBO IS SAD

elephants (at the zoo) always look so sad to me...probably because they are. and this is so shaky cause i was far away, had my telephoto lens on, it was dark and there was nothing to lean on. but i still like it. i think my mistakes look kind of interesting on occasion.

59. POLAROID

POLAROID

i am TOTALLY going to miss polaroids when they finally run out of film for them...so my temporary solution is to just take pictures of my polaroid cameras.

these little buggers were all over the place in the british virgin islands when we were there for a wedding. and i should get mad props for not using the word cock when naming the picture. also...still to cold to go out and shoot anything. brrrrr. BVI.

53. ECLIPSE

so, um, i guess the main reason i didn't see the eclipse last night is that it was tonight...so here is a picture! first...the moon as it normally looks, on non-eclipse nights, say, like, oh i dunno...last night maybe...

NORMAL MOON

and here is the eclipse! it is red. who knew?

52. THUMB

i was totally going to take a picture of the eclipse but i: a) missed it, b) it was taking to long or c) it was too cold. or maybe a combination of all three. i might go and check again before i go to bed, but anyway...here is my thumb instead.

51. BUOYS

BIG BUOYS

we used to go lobstering (as i believe i mentioned when i posted my lobstah picture) and these buoys are hanging up outside my mom's house. i kinda love all this cape stuff (like old lobster traps and buoys and stuff) and would TOTALLY consider putting some of it up around the house here, although i think it would look a little out of place...what with no ocean nearby or anything.

PHOTO CHALLENGE

the next two words i pulled out of the bag were "texture" and "love is in need of love today" (from songs in the key of life, stevie wonder).
hrm. i am giving myself a little time to get these ones. the only one i still need to finish from the last round is "false alarm" and i still have an idea from when my friends and i were going to do a photochallenge at work...but i need to go and buy something for it...

49. V-berries...

This here is a cranberry bog. i love them. don't ask why. if you need an explanation on how one works, i can draw a diagram. i am a cranberry geek.

V-JUICE BOG

also, if you want an explanation as to why i call cranberry juice V-juice...well, you can ask me in person, but i probably won't go writing it out. i will say this though, it keeps your junk in good working order, and my friend marti came up with the name.

47. GREY HOUSE ON A GRAY DAY...

i always argue with myself on the proper way to spell gray. or grey. not that one isn't proper. i just feel like i should commit to one.

BIG HOUSE

Two posts tonight, since i was too tired after my 3.5 hour drive home from work last night. yup. three and a half hours. it is usually 25 minutes. but enough about that. this is a happy photo-blog.

45. Heat

BIG FLAME

My friend Ryan was taken pictures of fire dancers for a while, and i always thought the way fire came out in pictures was really cool. so when i was at two of my best friends (Craig and Val) big bash this weekend, i saw a good opportunity to take a cool pic of some fire. i believe this was right after craig decided to put some laminated wood in the big fire pit. boy, was it smokey. but i was there, face in the fire. i think an ember landed on my lip. good times were had.

44. Uh, what are you doing?

LOOKING OUT

More of my stalker-ish-ness coming out...this dude was in new orleans.

43. Doves

PEACE

42. Ka-niffy

and a dusty one, at that...the other lens i love to use is the macro lens. i love making things that are kinda not huge look really big and detailed.

DUSTY KNIFE

41. Big Eye

BIG FISHEYE

Speaking of fish eyes, i REALLY want a fisheye lens. i think that might be a tax-refund purchase this year. then i will post a bunch of funky fisheye pictures for a while.
i am bringing my camera with me on my trek to new england. i am a little excited to get some pictures of where i grew up.

40. For Grandma

So, i am posting a little like a madman, mostly because i have to head out of town on wednesday to go to my grandmother's funeral. i'm cool, it is ok, she died very peacefully this morning. she was a great lady, and i wish i had been able to spend more time with her later in life.
i am totally not a religious person, but this picture i took of this nice stained glass lady popped up on my pictures as i was flipping through them earlier, and if i were a religious person, i would like to think she is watching over my grandma.

MARY, MAYBE

39. Cow

HOW NOW, BLACK COW?

i dig cows.

38. CROWDS

CROWDS

Dudes, i am on top of my self-imposed photo contest! this is for the "crowds" challenge. so, yes, the picture is blurry, but i could make an argument for this being another happy accident. also, the really cool thing about this picture? if you look on the right side of it, you see one face looking back at me...and that's my friend john! how awesome is that? (he is the dude wearing the blue shirt with the white collar.) i took this heading down into the metro after the fireworks this past fourth of july.

37. Wood Eating Wasp

W.A.S.P.

Dudes, this wasp eats WOOD. can you imagine what it would have done to me, if it had been aware that i was taking eight-hundred pictures of it? the mind boggles.

36. The Pier

this is another OBX pic. i started messing around on this trip because i had some new lenses and was all excited to have my new camera, and i totally dug how some of the more "experimental" (or...i don't really know what the hell i am doing) pictures came out.

LIGHTS ON THE PIER

We go to the outer banks every year, and although i don't do anything but read and cook (and take pics, obvs.) it is one of my favorite trips and traditions. and bryan loves the hell out of the beach, as do our two other friends that come with us. personally, the sand is a little too much for me, but i love not having to do anything but relax.

35. Pink Tree

CHERRY BLOSSOMS

Just some fun with filters.
My last picture was taken in Costa Rica, in Aranal (sp?) where Bryan and I spent time looking at volcanos and waterfalls. Absolutely the most beautiful place i have ever seen. and aw, i got to be there with Bryan, which of course just made it even better.
