I'm back!
took a little break to get some work done (design work) and then go to the outer banks for our yearly trip! and now i have a crap load of photos to post! so get ready for the barrage.

293. CIVIL WAR
CIVIL WAR STATUE
bryan and i (and the dogs) walked around dc the other day, and we stopped at this memorial, right off the mall and across from the capitol. obviously i love statues (i like taking pictures of things that aren't alive and trying to bring a little life into them...like making art out of art). i had never really looked at this statue before, but it is pretty cool. especially the horses. but this dude was alright, too.

also from comic-con. if you haven't read the Watchmen graphic novel, by the mad genius alan moore, i highly recommend it. it is consistently on "best NOVELS (not just graphic novels, but all novels) of all time" lists. it is the comic book i would recommend to non-comic book readers.

i went to comic-con with some friends the other day (shout out to young matt and young jen!) surprisingly, there weren't as many photo ops of crazy people as you would have thought. that and i was blinded by all the comic books. next year, i will be much more prepared.

280, 281, 282: FIRE!
FIRE!
so this is sort of across the street from the Ceder Lodge (see last post). it was going to be a nice and fancy new hotel. we think the Cedar Lodge may have had something to do with this. all that is left is some cinder blocks from the elevator shaft. it was HUGE! i had the hose ready at our house, just in case, cause those embers were flying everywhere. but no one was hurt (seriously, i think one fireman went to the hospital, but mostly as a precaution).
i really do think one of the ladies of ill repute who make up the clientele at the Cedar Lodge probably got nervous about her business dwindling with the "building up" of the area...you would think she would have been stoked at the influence of business men...

CEDER LODGE
all sorts of unmentionable things happen at this place. it is seedy. but i can see the sign from our lawn (if i walk all the way to the edge and look down the road), and i have been kind of wanting to take a pic of it for a while. so the other night, when i had to go to the 7-11, i grabbed my camera and walked from my car (yup, i drove all 45 seconds down the road, i am telling you...seedy) and took a picture. then ran back to my car.

this little dude was dancing all over the place. such a cute little guy, and SO happy. he was actually dancing around the pipe lady in the previous post.
