this guy was at our pool every night. by the third night i would feed him the bugs i scooped out of the pool before taking my nightly skinny-dip.

so i wish i had been a little faster or the hand picture would have been awesome, but it ain't easy taking pics when you are drinking and relaxing all day...anyway, this was the coolest thing. the little (baby?) monkey was drinking the water out of the flower. OUT OF THE FLOWER. they are little people. i will probably say that about a million times.

we were all pretty sure this was ginger, then someone told us it wasn't, but i think things got muddled in translation, because according to google, this is pink ginger. and i am pretty sure this is related to the stuff we eat...if it isn't, in fact, the same stuff.

as much as i dig monkeys, sloths are my favorite Costa Rican animal. they come down from their trees (of which they usually only hang out in about four or five different ones) once a week to do their bid'ness. 

they poop once a week folks.

i also discovered that since it actually takes them about two weeks to digest food, if they don't eat food with enough nutritional value, they can starve to death, even if their stomachs are completely full. 

fascinating animals. and they look like little old men. this dude was hanging out in front of our casa.

so every morning we were awoken by this little dude. loudest f-ing bird on the planet. and he would knock on the window/doors for most of the morning, especially when he saw that we were eating yummy breakfast quesadillas.

so on my birthday we did the zipline. not for my birthday, just on it. i am not going to lie, it was pretty awesome. this was at the top of one of the towers, right before one of the really long zip lines. 

and this is not really the best picture of everyone, although i like the angle. i have NO idea what Verly is doing with her tongue, Jaimee is staring someplace, and John looks a little special (we made fun of him because he had to have his camera strapped to his chin, and with the helmet on, he looked ready for a ride on the shortbus. which is funny cause John usually looks pretty with it.) Also, there is some dude in a red tee shirt who i referred to, in my mind, as the weird German dude. at least, i think he was German.

So every day at lunch these little guys came to visit us, and then strolled through the yard again later in the day. it was pretty kick ass. although some of them may have been a little scary now and then.
